This website provides information for 16-24 year olds on the options available under the apprenticeship scheme.
Connexions York and North Yorkshire
Connexions is a youth support service. This website provides information, advice guidance and support on a huge range of issues to help young people to prepare for adult and working life.
The Student Zone
This website has information about every aspect of young people’s lives from music, games and travel to financial advice. There is a career section which contains information about CV’s and interviews, and has over 150 career profiles with jobs ranging from accountant and actor thru pilot and printer and right through to vet and writer.

This website provides information on working in local government such as pay, conditions of service, recruitment, skills and development.
Ethnic Minorities Jobsite
This website is designed to bring together talented ethnic jobseekers with forward thinking employers in an easy to use online environment.
Jobcentre Plus
The Jobcentre Plus website provides help and advice on job searching, as well as an online vacancy search facility.
Learn Direct Futures
Register free on this website and you can search through hundreds of job profiles and courses. It also provides a number of resources to assist your career planning.
New Deal
New Deal is a key part of the Government’s strategy to get people back to work. It gives people on benefits the help and support they need to look for work, including training and job preparation.
Prospects
This is the official graduate careers website, and provides a job search facility as well as career planning tools. Graduates may also want to look at www.milkround.co.uk and www.doctorjob.co.uk which provide a similar service.

This website is where you will find information on NYCC current apprenticeships.
Worktrain
Worktrain is a national jobs, learning and volunteering site.
Futureville
Visit this site to order a free copy of the Futureville CD-ROM produced by the Employer’s Organisation. It gives you an idea of the careers available in local government, the skills and qualifications that you are likely to need and general interview and application advice.

The Learn Direct website provides hundreds of specially created online courses in computers, office skills and self-development so that you can learn a time, place and pace to suit your needs.
Virtual Training Suite
This website offer free tutorials designed to help people improve their internet information literacy and IT skills.
Do-it
Do-it provides loads of information about volunteering opportunities and allows you to search for opportunities in your area.
Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS)
UCAS is the central organisation that processes applications for full-time undergraduate courses at UK universities.

People Matters is an electronic information resource developed by HR Services. It includes information on employment policies and procedures, briefing notes, learning & development and more. It is available by selecting the ‘People Matters’ link on the NYCC intranet.
