The Chief Executive's Group provides the central support services for the County Council and comprises the following:

Chief Executives Office

The Chief Executive is responsible for coordinating the work of the County Council across the whole range of services and undertakes a variety of work.

Committee Services

This unit is responsible for arranging and providing services to meetings of the County Council.

Corporate Policy Unit (CPU)

The CPU supports the County Council in developing those policy areas that cut across service provision.

HR Services

HR Services provides strategic development and professional advice, guidance and administrative support on the full range of employment issues, across the County Council. The unit is committed to delivering a high quality, responsive and comprehensive service and contributes to the effectiveness of individual business units.

Scrutiny and Corporate Performance Unit

The Scrutiny and Corporate Performance Unit supports the Council's vision and key objectives by promoting continuous improvement across all of the Council's Services.

Legal Services

The unit is committed to providing quality and customer-orientated legal services. All aspects of local government law are covered by the team whose areas of expertise include employment, social services, education, property law, litigation, planning, contract and debt recovery.
